See her in all her glory.
The Super Bowl trailer for Jurassic World showed us the gene-spliced Indominus Rex again and again and again, but only in fragments; an eye here, a row of teeth there. So far, we?ve yet to see a full-shot of what the creature will look like in the film. This new toy replica, however, gives us some idea of what a spectacularly bad idea it actually is.
Here?s the model shot, courtesy of EW. As a bonus, we?ve put images of the T-Rex and raptor below, even though we already know what they look like.

Now, the scientists of Jurassic World have gone out of their way to make a dinosaur that?s extremely more dangerous than any of the ?natural? ones cloned in the previous films. Are they idiots? You don?t make a rollercoaster more fun by making it easier for its passengers to fly off and splat, you just want to create the implication of added risk. Giving a dinosaur this mouth and these arms? that?s just idiotic. Or, perhaps, hideously misanthropic and suicidal all at once.
So the Indominus Rex is a bad idea, at least on the part of the movie characters who create it. Hopefully, though, it will prove to be a very good idea on the part of the filmmakers. They?ve got some justification to deliver, but if they can convince audiences that this lunatic invention is somehow something that people would plausibly create, then there?s certainly a lot of fun they can have with it.
Just a pro-tip for anybody setting up their own dinosaur-based theme-park, however. Why not put some kind of fail-safe device inside the dinosaurs, like remote-activation bombs by their hearts, maybe? Just a little something I picked up from my many years working in the industry.
Jurassic World is set for release in both the UK and US on June 12th.
